We run three residential yoga teacher training courses in India, all of them at our Yoga Alliance registered school in Rishikesh. This page sets them side by side — 100, 200 and 300 hours — so you can tell which one is yours before you read a single course page.
They differ in one thing above everything else: how many hours your certificate carries, and so what you can do with it afterwards. The 200 hour is the qualification a studio asks to see. The 100 hour is the first half of one. The 300 hour is for people who already hold a 200, and taking both leaves you with the 500 hours Yoga Alliance registers a senior teacher at. The teachers, the food and the rooms above the Ganga are the same whichever you choose.

100 Hour Yoga Teacher Training
Choose the 100 hour if you have two weeks rather than four, or if you want to find out what a training is like before committing to one. It is not a teaching qualification on its own: it counts as the first half of a 200 hour, and you can finish the other half with us later.
200 hours · 27 days
200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training
Choose the 200 hour if you want to teach. This is the qualification studios and yoga schools ask to see, and you need no teaching experience to start it. If you are reading this page unsure, this is almost certainly the course you mean.
300 hours · 27 days
300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training
Choose the 300 hour if you already hold a 200 hour certificate and want to go deeper — more anatomy, more Kundalini, the intermediate Ashtanga series, and teaching practice under correction. Taken with your 200, it makes you eligible to register as an RYT 500.

How the courses ladder
These are not separate qualifications. They are one pathway, and the hours add up — a 200 and a 300 together come to the 500 that Yoga Alliance registers a senior teacher at:
- 100
Half of a 200 hour, taken on its own. Finish the other 100 hours with us and it becomes a full certification.
- 200
The foundation qualification. Complete it and you are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200.
- 300
Built on top of a 200 hour, which you must already hold. It cannot be taken first.
- 500
Your 200 and your 300 together come to 500 hours, which is the level Yoga Alliance registers a teacher at as an RYT 500. It is the route rather than a separate qualification — take the two courses in order and you arrive at it.

What Every Course Includes
Residential means residential. Whichever training you book, the fee covers the same things.
Every class on the timetable
8 to 9 hours of teaching a day, six days a week, across asana, pranayama, philosophy, anatomy and teaching practice.
Your room, for the whole course
On site, with a private washroom. Shared and private rooms are both available; the fees on this page are for a shared room.
Three vegetarian meals a day
Sattvic food cooked at the school, served for as long as the course runs.
Study material and a yoga kit
The books and the kit are yours to keep. Mats, props and equipment are provided while you are here.
A batch of 15, not 50
Every intake is capped, so your alignment is corrected by name rather than from the front of a hall.
Your certificate
Presented at the closing ceremony, from a Yoga Alliance registered school.
The drive up from Dehradun
Pick-up from Dehradun airport (DED) is free. Send us your arrival time and a car will be waiting. A cab from Delhi is a different journey and is charged separately.

For international students
Coming to India for Your Training
Most of our students fly in for the course. Here is what that involves before you book anything.
The visa
Come on a tourist visa. It is the right visa for every course on this page. For a stay of up to 60 days you apply online, and there is no visa on arrival — so apply before you book your flight.
Flying in
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant (DED) in Dehradun, a short domestic hop from Delhi. Your pick-up from there is free and already in the fee — tell us your arrival time and a car will be waiting.
Or overland from Delhi
5 to 6 hours by road, or a train to Haridwar and 45 minutes on from there. The school is 10 to 12 km from Rishikesh's own station. We can arrange a cab from Delhi airport, but that journey is charged separately — ask us for the price before you book it.
When to come
Courses start every month. October to February is the cool season, and January is the coldest month. March to June is summer, reaching 35°C in June. July to September is the monsoon — warm, humid and green.
We are not immigration advisors. Confirm the current rules with your own embassy or consulate before you pay for anything.
The certificate
Yoga Alliance Certification
Yoga Alliance does not certify a course — it registers a school. Ours is registered at RYS 200, RYS 300 and RYS 500, and that is what lets a graduate of those courses apply to become a Registered Yoga Teacher.
Registering as an RYT is your own decision and it is voluntary. It is what most studios outside India look for, and it opens Yoga Alliance's own workshops and continuing education to you.
The 100 hour is the exception on this page. There is no RYS 100, so it is not a standalone teaching qualification — it counts as the first half of a 200 hour.
Whichever you take, the certificate is a numbered document rather than a template with a name typed into it. It carries the school's Yoga Alliance registration number, the seal for the level it was run at, your photograph, and a certificate number of your own beside a QR code marked SCAN TO VERIFY. Scan that code, or type the number, and our register answers for it.

Questions people ask while deciding
Which yoga teacher training should I do first?+
The 200 hour, unless you have a reason not to. It is the foundation qualification, it needs no prior training, and it is what a studio asks to see. Start with the 100 hour only if two weeks is what you have, or if you want to try a training before committing to a full one.
Do I need to be able to do advanced postures to join?+
No. The 100 hour and the 200 hour are both open to beginners, and neither needs teaching experience. You need to be 16 or over and able to follow the course in English. The 300 hour is the one with a real prerequisite: a completed 200 hour from a Yoga Alliance registered school.
Can I teach after the 100 hour course?+
Not on that certificate alone. Yoga Alliance registers schools at 200, 300 and 500 hours — there is no 100 hour registration. The 100 hour counts as the first half of a 200 hour, so finishing the remaining 100 hours with us leaves you eligible to register as a teacher.
Can I take the 200 hour and the 300 hour together?+
Yes — take the 200 hour first and the 300 hour after it, and the two together come to the 500 training hours Yoga Alliance registers a teacher at. They are booked as two courses rather than one, and the 300 hour cannot be taken first. Write to us before you book and we will tell you which intakes line up, because that depends on when you come.
Are the courses Yoga Alliance certified?+
The school is registered with Yoga Alliance at RYS 200, RYS 300 and RYS 500. Graduates of the 200 hour and the 300 hour can apply to register as Registered Yoga Teachers, and the two taken together come to the 500 hours Yoga Alliance registers a senior teacher at. The 100 hour is not a standalone registration, because Yoga Alliance has no 100 hour level.
What does the fee cover?+
All classes, your room for the whole course, three vegetarian meals a day, study material, a yoga kit, your certificate, and a free pick-up from Dehradun airport.
